DIET
The Romans diet consisted of barley, olive oil and wine. This was the standard. A lot of the food was from what they could find and was nearby. From the standard meal carbohydrates, protein and fat were provide which was crucial to maintain a healthy life style. The rich people ate beef, pork, lamb, chicken, fish, dormice and snails. These were more expensive and harder to have access to. The really poor people ate vegetables- cucumber and lettuce, lentils, apples, figs, nuts, cheese and eggs. Your meal also would depend on where you lived in Pompeii.
CLOTHING
Usually the ancient Romans wore linen tunics under robes. They wore leather sandals or leather boots in cold weather. Traditionally women wore wooden sticks in their hair or combs. They kept these combs in their hair in case they were out and needed to comb their hair. On fancy occasions Men wore woollen robes over their tunics. We know these as Togas. On a fancy occasions, women wore linen tunics and a scarf or veil which they would pull over their face if it was raining or cold.
